Collectible!!! Wowee - is this amazing ring a treasure! I need not tell you the history of Tiffany & Co. or convince you of the quality of their incredibly fine & highly-sought after jewelry.
However, when you come across antique Tiffany (or Cartier, Van Cleef to name a few), if the game of collecting wasn't special enough before, antique signed designer pieces are truly 'needles in a haystack'.
New and even vintage pieces of Tiffany command premium dollars both in the retail & the estate auction world. Rarely are we fortunate enough however to come across antique pieces, that not only hold darling & rare gems, but that have retained their exquisite quality & beauty after so many years of likely considerable proud wear.
This clearly marked Edwardian-period Tiffany & Co. pearl & diamond ring, stamped '100% IRID, 90% PLAT', which factually dates it pre-1926, holds 3 STUNNING assumed-cultured freshwater button pearls of a glowing whitish-silver hue, along with 34 dazzling diamonds!
Being Tiffany & Co. and knowing the history behind Charles Lewis Tiffany's love & use of pearls around the turn of the 20th century, this beauty is special, as it is well-documented Mr. Tiffany made use of & won several prestigious awards for his pearl creations. And these pearls are gorgeous, with an incredible high luster & iridescence. Though the general hue is white-silver, the pearls emit a mix of pink, green & blue also. The pearls range from 5.00mm to 5.70mm, with slightly 'off-round' shape, flawless 'complexion' and good uniformity!
Of the 34 diamonds, 33 of them are early Old European cut in shape... they're not all round as most Old Euros are, but they're not as rectangular as Old Mines... they transition between the two. Only one is a newer cut, a round transitional cut, meaning it is a replacement. This again can be replaced with another old cut without a lot of trouble, however, the one replacement is hard to find within all the other old cuts, and even knowing it's there, it doesn't stand out, as it's been matched in color & clarity beautifully. Nonetheless, we've taken this one diamond into consideration in setting our asking price. As you can expect, clarity & color-wise, the diamonds are high quality... G-H in color and VS-SI in clarity, and total an estimated 0.75ct.
As well as proudly bearing the Tiffany & Co. signature and platinum markings, the ring has the remnants of 'AND EVER' engraved in the band. We assume it once said 'FOREVER' or 'ALWAYS', or maybe 'EVER', but the first word is faded/worn and long gone... so we leave it to you to imagine what it once may have said.
Absolutely breathtaking, this beauty could act as a truly rare, one-of-a-kind engagement ring, or of course an anniversary ring or evening ring. Whatever you make it, make it count... guaranteed you'll be the ONLY lady wearing this ring at any given time!
