We came across this lovely old 14k white gold ring with British Hallmarks at a recent estate auction. Its three, soft lavender marquise-cut tanzanites jumped out of its pretty setting and shouted "Buy me!". So we did.
Eight diamonds in sets of two, alternate prettily with each of the three 5mm X 2.5mm tanzanites, all three of which are crystal clear right through to their open-back settings and chip-free.
The top mount of the ring measures 1/2" long by 1/4" wide and sits 3/16" above the finger. Currently, the ring is a size 6.25 and there's enough gold in the band to re-size without difficulty. The ring weighs 3 grams.
There are several hallmarks inside the ring band, including what is probably the maker's hallmark, " IW ". It's also stamped both 585 and separately, elsewhere on the bank, 14k. There's a symbol of some kind that looks like an anchor as well.
Lately, we've been seeing higher and higher prices on tanzanite rings as this lovely gemstone gains in popularity. Because these are relatively small tanzanites, and the 8 diamonds, while sparkly, are not of the greatest clarity, we've kept the price low on this ring. It's pretty, affordable, wear anywhere, anytime adornment for the right fingers. Would that be yours? We hope so!
