Darling! Refined elegance and simplicity, crescent moon pins were often given as wedding gifts to the bride, symbolizing love and female empowerment aka the feminine moon goddess (go ladies!!)!
Highly popularized during the Victorian period, while it's possible this darling is also from that era, as the hallmark is for 10kt gold, we would prefer to say it's a slightly 'newer' period piece, more likely Art Nouveau to Art Deco in vintage (1910's to 1930's), simply for the fact that higher carat gold was generally used during the Victorian reign. It's clasp is also an earlier 'locking c-clasp', patented in 1901 and used quite often between 1910-1920.
All that said, she's a BEAUTY, set with 19 high-luster natural seed pearls, which appear to be drilled, on pegs and cemented to the 10kt yellow gold pin. Measuring a solid 2 inches in length, she is a great size to adorn a jacket or scarf, with a weighty pin rod and no bends or weak spots. The glowing pearls range in size from about 1.5mm to 2.75mm, with a creamy gold, slightly silver luster. Just beautiful!
If you're looking for a sweet treat to add to your year-round scarf or jacket collection, this pretty lady will do it!
