14k Inlaid Opal Tanzanite & Lapis Ring - Stunning combination!
I find the whole design of this ring fascinating. Not only is it a lovely combination of complementary colours but it offers an interesting interplay of geometric designs as well. This leads me to believe it probably dates to the 1960's when abstract design and lapis were very popular.
This solid ring weighs 5 grams. The high quality oval cut tanzanite of incredible clarity measures 6mm X 4.5mm. The rectangular strip of deep purple blue lapis separating the opal inlays is 5mm X 2mm. The smaller rectangular opal inlay which emits a gorgeous red streak under light is 5mm X 3mm; the large piece of opal is rhomboid shaped and measures 7mm X 5mm X 2mm X 5mm.
The ring is currently a size 7 but can be easily re-sized. The inner band is marked 14k and ©ID as best as I can make out. The width at the top of the ring is 7mm at its widest point, tapering to 4mm at the base.
With every turn of your hand, this ring emits beautiful colour changes depending the light, thanks to those delightful opals.
