Here's a truly rare find in Erte's "Art to Wear" ring line ... so rare in fact, it's not even the book I consult for Erte. But it's unquestionably authentic and has an interesting story attached to it.
The original owner of this ring purchased it for $1100 the day after Erte passed away: April 21, 1990. She was an avid Erte fan and just had to have one of the famous man's Art To Wear pieces. She wore it faithfully till it became too tight for her ... a pinkie ring for most people, size 4.
The certificate of authenticity that accompanies the ring calls it simply "DECO RING, STATE 1 by Erte". It has 32 hand set pave diamonds totalling 0.29cts and a diamond-shaped 7.4 X 11.8 mm faceted London Blue Topaz center stone. The four equal sides of the diamond shaped mount each measure 1/2" long. Some of the diamonds are also set into the sides of the 14k gold band.
As you can see in the photos, the ring bears the famous scripted Erte signature on the side of the mount, and the inside of the band is stamped 14k, ©CFA and the edition number, 17/500.
This ring is still in very good condition and the London blue topaz colour is gorgeous! The owner didn't want to sell such a collectible Erte that meant a lot to her personally but needed the money for medical expenses. The new owner ... YOU ... will get this rare ring in its original Erte black velvet box (shown) along with the Certificate of Authenticity (a little wrinkled over the years but still very legible and proof that you have purchased a divine find in Erte's Art to Wear jewelry.
