Cultured Fresh Water Pearl Necklace with 1.26cts Diamonds & Carved Rubies, Sapphires & Emeralds in 18k - INCREDIBLE!

This magnificent piece of vintage jewelry is crafted in solid 18k yellow and white gold and stamped accordingly. Weighing approximately 45.6 grams, it comprises 4 strands of creamy yellow cultured fresh water pearls, ranging in graduated lengths from 15 1/2" to 17 1/2". As closely as we can count them, there are 417 pearls of 3.55mm each, amounting to a total pearl carat weight of 124 - 125cts or 496.50 grains. That's a lot of cultured pearls ... and all are in top condition. A true pearl-lover's delight.

But what knocks me out even more is the clasp which one can consider the centerpiece or sidepiece or however you want to wear it. In a word, it's AMAZING! This 1 3/4" X 3/4" clasp contains 13 sapphires, 8 rubies and 14 emeralds of varying sizes for a total of 5.61cts in mixed genuine gemstones. See the accompanying appraisal for specifics.

But that's not all! In the very center of all this sits a brilliant diamond of approximately 0.50cts and of VVS2 clarity and E color. And surrounding it are 10 more bright diamonds of VVS - VS clarity and E - F color, giving an additional 0.76 cts and bringing the total diamond carat weight to approx. 1.26cts!

And there's one more thing about this masterpiece ... yes, it is a masterpiece ... in my humble opinion: take a close look at the photos. Double-click on them. Zero in on those gemstones: they're carved! Each and every one of them! Simply amazing. What a rare and unique piece of vintage jewelry this is!

We did find one unusual thing about this necklace, and since it's a estate piece, we don't know if this is how it was originally made or if someone had it made over to their liking: we noticed there appears to be 4 loops in the clasp where additional strands of pearls could once have been. And there are 4 tiny rods on the opposite side to which strands could have been attached, but they aren't positioned to line up. We're not sure what to make of this: perhaps there were originally 8 strands of pearls? Perhaps someone wanted less of them? Perhaps someone had it custom made over. Who knows? We don't. What we do know is it lies perfectly on your neck regardless and looks magnificent.

Our most recent appraisal (March 2011) states the insurance replacement value of this remarkable necklace as $7950 CAD ... and that's no surprise a all. This style of necklace, based on length, is called the "princess" style, but with the incredible clasp as its centerpiece, this necklace is fit for a queen!
