Beautiful Amethyst Cabochon & Diamond Brooch Pendant

With simply undeniable beauty and brilliant craftsmanship, this unsigned post-Art Deco piece is one of the finest pendants we've offered. Yes, we've had some stunning all-diamond and/or gemstone pendants and brooches, but combined, wow, this takes the cake!

Weighing a heavy 20.27 grams of 18kt white & yellow gold (acid tested)the focal piece of this pendant-brooch is its central oval-cut natural amethyst cabochon. So rich & deep, its color is very fine purple with flashes of blue & pink throughout. This BIG beauty measures 18.00 x 15.00mm, with an approximate depth of 8.50mm, giving the amethyst a carat weight of 16.48ct.

Then there are diamonds galore running throughout the pendant, and what makes this piece extra beautiful is that many of those diamonds are old rose-cut diamonds, all of which have exceptional white color and clarity. Surrounding the amethyst is a 'frame' or 'halo' of 24 rose-cuts, which then spread out into a leaf-like design that incorporates more rose-cuts and round brilliant-cut diamonds. The leaves and design have levels to them, adding depth & dimension to the piece. Every 'leaf' has a rose-cut diamond set into it and dotted throughout are the round brilliants, which are each set in white gold to add contrast.

The 19 round brilliants all measure approximately 2.15-2.20mm, which is equal to about 0.04ct per diamond. Together, they are estimated to weight 0.72ct. The rose-cut diamonds are typically difficult to measure due to the mixed non-round shape, however, there are 75 in total which gauge 1.50-1.60mm each. Rose cuts are never deep stones - many have flat bottoms, so their depth is shallow at 0.70mm, for an approximate total of 0.54ct. Additionally, there are 2 very small collet (bezel) set diamonds in the very top piece of the pendant-brooch which add another 0.03cts to the overall carat weight. The diamonds total 1.28ct overall, with the rose-cuts averaging VS-SI clarity and very white G-I color, and the round brilliants VS-SI clarity and F-H color.

To finish it off, there are 6 beautiful pinkish-peachy white cultured pearls set into the pendant. Per the appraisal they are 'cream rose' in color, with medium luster, medium nacre, all round, flawless with good uniformity. Each pearl measures 5.50-5.60mm round.

CONDITION: Very Fine to Excellent. Only thing to note is that a some point in the past this piece has been converted to act solely as a pendant. The pin for the brooch is still present & in working condition, and wearing it as a brooch will work no problem. However, the pendant hook/loop, which looks to have been added/soldered on prohibits the TOP dangle/pendant piece from folding under, which would have originally completely converted the piece into a brooch. The hinge is still present, so if one wanted to convert it solely to a brooch, the hook/loop could be removed and all would work well.
