Spectacular Art Deco Platinum 1.20ct Ruby Yellow Diamond Engagement Ring

I'm in love with everything about this ring - the large central solitaire, the rubies, the craftsmanship & quality.

The glowing & fiery main diamond is a beautiful warm light yellow color with totally eye-clean clarity of Si1. As it is bezel-set, it is difficult to get the exact dimensions, however, using calipers, it measures approximately 5.80-5.90mm round, with an estimated depth of about 3.90-4.00mm. Fortunately, 0.88 is hand-etched inside the band, which refers to the carat weight of the main diamond... 0.88ct.

The diamond is transitional in cut...still very much Old European looking, but with a closed culet, which became more common as the round brilliant cut started to rise in popularity (c. 1919). Due to this diamond cut, we can place this stunning ring between 1920-1930.

Surrounding the yellow diamond are 19 amazing natural blood red rubies. As they are calibre-cut, their carat weight can only be estimated, which we believe falls around 0.30-0.35ct (each measuring between 1.30-1.50mm). They are scintillating beauties that burn red fire from within... the color & heat of passion!

At the top of both sides of the shank are 2 more (4 in total) diamonds, white G-H in color and Old European cut (one looks to be Old Mine Cut). They all have open culets and are bead-set within the platinum, averaging Si1/Si2 clarity.

The gallery beneath the yellow diamond & rubies is open-backed allowing for maximum light entry into the diamond, and is elegantly carved out in marquise (diamond) shaped cut-outs. The platinum is in great condition, showing some light wear given its age, but no damage or weak spots. The band is mark 'Pt' for platinum along with initials that read either 'DE', 'DF' or 'DL'... the script is rather fancy & we just can't make it out exactly..??

Currently a US size 6 3/4 (inner diameter 17.07 - 17.20mm), this beauty will be easy to size up or down as you need. Please always inquire first about sizing requests before placing your order.
