HUGE Natural Certified 4.93ct Alexandrite & Designer-Signed Diamond Ring
But lucky you if you've found this one in our shop, because she's real, incredibly brilliant and is just waiting to go home to a new adoring owner!
Named after Russian tsar Alexander II, Alexandrite (belonging to the Chrysoberyl family) is an incredibly rare & valuable color-changing gem. Changing typically from green/greenish-yellow/greenish-blue hues in day/fluorescent light to purple/reddish-orange/purplish-raspberry hues in candle/incandescent light, this amazing gem is a true treasure to behold, and is a collector's item among connoisseurs, experts & gem lovers!
This very big natural Alex weighs 4.93ct and is certified by the AIGS, as well as certified natural by a GIA graduate gemologist. As I write this, this beauty sits on my ring finger and is a dark plumy-mauve with flecks of grass green flashing throughout. What amazes me with this Alex is its clarity - very, very clean. Due to its completely eye-clean clarity, this gem has the brilliance almost of a diamond - it is SOOO fiery, something I haven't seen in the 2 other Alexandrites we've offered before. This oval-cut gem measures 10.88 x 8.91 x 6.22mm and per the appraisal has "medium dark, slightly grayish, slightly yellowish-green color" changing to "medium, very slightly grayish, strongly purplish-red" color, with a good cut.
Please view our pictures to see the varying degrees of color this Alex exhibits. It was extremely hard capturing its true daytime/fluorescent color, which is grass-green with a touch of gold (the 2nd picture is close to what it is). At any given time outside/in fluorescent light you'll see golden-green to grass-green to green with teal flashes. Move indoors into incandescent or candle light and the gem absolutely changes to a mauve-purplish hue, sometimes golden-purple, sometimes orange-flash-purple. It's truly wondrous for its size!!
The vintage setting is a Michael Werdiger design (est. 1954), stamped with their trademark of 'MWI' along with '18k' and the letters 'VL'. The 18k gold is both white & yellow in color, with the shank being yellow and the head holding the Alexandrite white. Set in the ring are 40 dazzling white baguette-cut diamonds that weigh approximately 1.39ct altogether. They are excellent VVS-VS clarity and G-I in color. The diamonds are set not only down the top sides of the ring, but also into the mount beneath the main diamonds & Alex. We have a picture of this to show you - but there's not enough picture space here with all the other photos of the Alex - so please email us.
Stunning, one-of-a-kind, valuable & rare! Layaway Available - Just ask us how!!
US Size 5 1/2; Please inquire about sizing due to trademarks & baguette-set diamonds.
