Often referred to as 'Cognac' colored, the large natural oval-cut central diamond here is actually graded on paper as 'fancy deep orangy-brown', with a solid carat weight of 1.39ct. Eye-clean and transparent, the clarity grades as Si1, and the diamond measures 8.09 x 5.44mm in size. Accompanied by a diamond analysis wallet-report card, the depth is noted on the card as 3.74mm, while our gemologist has stated 3.90mm, with both measurements noted as estimates due to the mounting/setting of the ring. The diamond dances with flashes of orange and often red, especially in incandescent/candlelight, with a rich chocolate-brown body.
Adjacent to the main diamond are 2 gorgeous rare 'moon cut' diamonds, each estimated to weigh 0.25ct, for a total of 0.50ct combined. They are superbly white E-F color, with excellent VVS-2 to VS-1 clarity and 'very good' cuts. I just LOVE this cut of diamond - so unique, not often seen and insanely pretty faceting!
A further 20 bead-set round brilliant cut diamonds decorate the band of the ring, 10 per side, with an approximate carat weight of 0.22ct. They too are graded white F color with VS-1 to VS-2 clarity, and 'good' cuts. All the diamonds pack a punch when it comes to firepower with such excellent color and clarity.
The ring is currently a sizable US size 5.75 to 6, and is hallmarked with both 18k, a maker's mark of GS, and the numbers 24/49. These numbers possibly represent the exact moon and round brilliant cut diamond weights (0.24ct for the rounds, 0.49ct for the moons). **Also shown in one of the images is a band that can accompany this gorgeous ring, if you're looking for a wedding band. It too is a size 5.75 to 6 and appears to have once been attached to the main engagement ring (tiny soldering marks). Stamped 18k and also GS, the band holds 13 round brilliants which appear to be about 2 - 2.5pts each, with an estimated carat weight of 0.26 - 0.30ct.
