Very nice original finish revealed after several hours of careful cleaning. This ornate and unique oak frame has a gilt inner border and a 5" wide outer frame. Gesso oak leaves with acorns are backed with stippling and framed with oak moldings. In excellent condition with minor losses. The inner reveal of the frame measures 31.5" x 26.5" with likely a 1/2" extra on each side under the frame. The plaque at the bottom tells us that this was a gift from son to father, who lived from 1829 to 1866- possibly a Civil War veteran. A modern mirror has replaced whatever was originally inside the frame.
