Original Signed French Caricature Engraving 'Maman Kangourou' 1842.

This stunning and unique Australian inspired hand colored animal caricature is by the renowned JJ Grandville.

From his 'Scenes de la Privee et Publique des Animaux' and published by Hetzel in 1842, comes this truly unique caricature of a pair of Kangaroos.

Entitled 'Maman Kangourou' it features a mother and child Kangaroo in human clothing.

It is signed lower left by JJ Grandville and lower right by Tamisier S.

This is an original Antique hand colored engraving from France, and NOT a modern reproduction and the colors are truly stunning.

Known by the pseudonym JJ Grandville, the French caricature artist was actually Jean Ignace Isadore Gerard (1803-1847).

With no tears and minor age soiling and creasing it has a small right hand edge bend where it was removed from the binding of a book and some edge yellowing.

Measuring 7" x 10 1/4" it is in good Antique condition.
