This is the second in the real photo Language of Flowers postcard series I am listing today. The other is 'Campanule' (Ruby Lane ID35). Both postcards were sent to Mademoiselle Anna Hody in Verviers Belgium in 1906.
This lovely postcard is entitled 'Primevere' (Primrose). It features a lovely young Art Nouveau maiden blushingly turning her face away. She is holding a bunch of deep purple primroses. She is surrounded by a large bouquet of multi color primroses. Until I did my research I thought all primroses were yellow, but they come in many colors.
Signed J V lower right the postcard is finished with gold detailing.
The caption reads 'Vos aveux me font rougir' (your confessions make me blush). In the language of flowers the Primrose means 'I can't live without you'.
Stamped, franked in Belgium in 1906 and postally used the condition is good with album corner marks and age related soiling. It is serie 165.
