Original Color Lithograph by Marc Chagall 'Antilopa Passengers' 1969 'Homage a Chagall'
...His strong and saturated use of color. His stylized farm animals that inhabit all his works, and are a connection to his youth spent in a small farming village in Russia. His dream-like women clutching bunches of flowers...
This fine Lithograph truly does..as the title implies..pay homage to one of the 20th century's great painters..Marc Chagall.
Known as 'Antilopa Passengers' it was originally simply titled..'Homage a Marc Chagall.
It was created especially by Chagall, for a very special issue of a French Art Revue..'XXth eme Siecle'..published in limited edition (number unknown), in 1969 to celebrate the aging artist's life and work.
Rumour has it that the large pink faced smiling goat upper right is actually Chagall himself.
Measuring 12 1/4" x 9 1/2" it is printed by Fernand Mourlot, Paris and published by Mourlot/San Lazzaro on velin, it is possibly signed bottom right but very faintly.
The lithograph is in fine A+ condition.
It is double conservation matted.. with a cream outer matt and a fine black inner matt.. to highlight the strength of the work.
