Antique Austro-Hungarian Multi Gemstone and Filigree Lavalier Pendant Necklace

Crafted from gold-washed low grade (European) silver (Garnet gold), it features a beautiful open-work filigree design of flowers, fleurs de lis and stylized leaves, displaying a central rectangular box-bezel set 4mm x 9mm milky Emerald (tested) to great effect.

As if that isn't enough the design is peppered with 4 lovely faux? pearls (or possibly shell). One of the smaller ones is possibly a replacement as the color is slightly different. Plus 18 small Garnets. All in bezel settings for security. The color mix is fabulous, and the gold wash has aged to a fine patina. An elegant and understated piece, probably made in France.

The pendant section, with an articulated drop, measures a very generous 1 1/4" x 2 3/4" from the top of the flower to the bottom of the articulated dangle. The gold washed chain is 6 1/2" from the clasp to the beginning of the filigree design so it sits comfortably on the top of the breastbone for full effect.

As with all Austro-Hungarian pieces, the back is as intricate as the front.

In very good Antique condition. The pictures show a dark area on the Emerald. This is a natural color variation in the stone (milky emerald), reflected by the flash, and not a surface chip. The stone is in good condition.

The chain is original to the piece, but the working ring clasp is a replacement.
