This gorgeous 1960's vintage custom made ring boasts a 10mm X 8mm oval shaped, genuine natural untreated sapphire gemstone (verified by a Master Gemologist), prong set and open back, surrounded by twelve 3mm-4mm tapered keystone diamond baguettes in a modernist ruffled starburst design. Diamond baguettes are gorgeous and very clear (Again, verified by Master Gemologist).
Entire head of ring measures 21mm X 20mm. Ring rises up 8mm from the squared off ring band, marked "18K" and "N1" for the artisan, Ronald McNeish of Pittsburgh, PA. Ring weighs in at a hefty 13 grams. Ring is a US women's size 5. Excellent condition.
This one-of-a-kind, unique ring has an interesting provenance. The oval sapphire cabochon originally came from one of the button studs belonging to a Pittsburgh steel tycoon, Edward L. Parker, of Columbia Steel & Shafting Co. His granddaughter had one of the button stud cabs made into a ring in 1965 by a well-known Pittsburgh, PA artisan, Ronald McNeish (The Collection).
