This Napier signed, vintage 1970s mod pendant necklace, designed by Eugene Bertolli, features one large oval lucite topaz or amber brown cabochon set in a gold plated bird's nest style open metal work frame, composed of wavy layers of thick, brushed textured, gold plated threads.
This 1973 design line is featured on page 475-476 of of the impressive book, "The Napier Company, Defining 20th Century American Costume Jewelry" by Melinda L. Lewis with Henry J. Swen, just published this year (2013). See 2nd photo.
The entire pendant measures 2" inches tall (without bale) X 1.5" inches wide. The oval lucite cabochon measures 23mm X 17mm. Back of pendant is hallmarked "Napier" with the copyright symbol.
Pendant is strung from an oval link, gold plated chain, 30" inches in length. Jump ring on spring ring clasp of the necklace is also marked "NAPIER" with the copyright symbol. All pieces are in excellent condition.
