Meriden Britannia Co. Nickel Silver Covered Serving Dish ~ Early 1900's

This elegant covered vegetable or casserole serving dish, produced by Meriden Britannia Company of Meriden, CT, measures 11" X 8" (and 2" inches tall without the cover, 5" tall with the cover or lid). Item itself weighs in at 3 lbs., 3 ounces or 1447 grams. Opening for food measures 9" X 6.25" (wide rim makes dish larger in size). Nice curvy lines pattern, sleek without further embellishment.

Bottom of covered dish is hallmarked, "M.B. Co. (Scales), Nickel Silver,W.M. Mounts, 00651,11 IN., USA". This mark dates this piece to the 1930's or earlier. Very good condition; only small loss of plating in corners of dish rim in a few places (See close-up photos). DRCC 46-2014. FINAL Sale price...item will be removed August 30, 2014.
