This pretty, vintage late 1950's silver tone brooch, signed by Schiaparelli, is like a swish of ribbon candy, dotted with pave set, tiny blue crystal aurora borealis rhinestones, as well as two clusters of graduated sizes of round chatons, as well as a flower with pear shaped stones for petals with a tiny stone in its center. Right side up it is like a v-shaped tornado cone and upside down, it could be worn as a Christmas tree pin.
This stunning beauty measures 3" inches tall X 1.25" inches at its widest point. Back is hallmarked "Schiaparelli" in script lettering on a raised, oval cartouche. This gorgeous pin is in pristine, excellent condition.
Bit O'History: Elsa Schiaparelli (1890–1973) was an Italian fashion designer. Along with Coco Chanel, her greatest rival, she is regarded as one of the most prominent figures in fashion between the two World Wars. Schiaparelli's designs were heavily influenced by Surrealists like her collaborators Salvador Dalí and Alberto Giacometti. Her clients included the heiress Daisy Fellowes and actress Mae West.
