This statement making, runway set from Joseph Mazer (aka, Jomaz) is Mid century modern, early 1950's, featuring chocolate espresso coffee hued oval glass cabochons, all prong set in gold plate with nugget textured square links and a huge modernist pendant.
This impressive necklace has a pendant that measures 3.5" inches tall X 2.5" inches wide and is set with a 30mm x 22mm chocolate brown glass cabochon, top center inside and swiveling on a somewhat heart shaped piece that overlaps with an oval shaped piece. Necklace is rigidly curved to lay right around your neck, alternating between the glass cabochon (18mm X 12mm) and square gold plated textured links. Wearable necklace length is about 17" inches.
The matching earrings are large drops, measuring 2.25" inches long X nearly 1" inch wide. The top section at the ear has the square link with a chocolate glass cabochon, and from it dangles an elongated oval or tear drop shaped piece, with its open center set with a larger cab. Back of clips are hallmarked "Joseph Mazer" without the copyright symbol, dating this set to between 1950-1954. Necklace is not signed, as was mostly the case with his sets (Only matching earrings were signed).
This set is in pretty pristine, excellent condition. Only a little bit of wear to the gold plate on the back of the fold over clasp. Also, pendant was professionally reattached, since the delicate pin mechanism that attached the large pendant to the necklace strand broke. The repair is very strong and invisible from the front or sides...only visible from the back (See last photo).
