This late 1960's/early 1970's medallion necklace from Accessocraft of New York City features an oval shaped pendant in antique gold tone that has the look of French cut steel in an open cut scroll and floral pattern. I've heard this necklace referred to both as Medieval Revival and Victorian Revival. The 26" inches long double link chain and pendant are adorned with rich, jewel tone sapphire blue glass faceted stones, all bezel set and translucent.
The center of this neat pendant is punctuated by an oval sapphire glass stone, set open back to let the light shine through. This large stone measures 1" inch (25mm) X 5/8" of an inch (17mm) X 3/8" of an inch (9mm) thick. It is framed by three stacked layers of twisted rope-style trim.
The pendant itself measures 2 3/8" inches (79mm) long X 1.5" inches (38mm) wide. The drop with the medallion totals 4" inches in length.
Above the pendant and on each side of the chain are three smaller sapphire stones, rounded square in shape and measuring 1/2" an inch (12mm) across.
Near the spring ring clasp, this beautiful piece is hallmarked "Accessocraft N.Y.C." on a round metal tag. It is in excellent condition. These Accessocraft NYC pieces are being grabbed up left and right by celebrity stylists!
