This very rare, circa 1941 Calla Lily floral brooch was designed and patented by Gene Verrecchio for Coro. What an exquisite brooch for this spring & summer seasons! Also wonderful for the bride or bridesmaids who are carrying calla lillies for bouquets. These older Coro pieces were not signed, but they are documented in many jewelry books, such as on page 45 of Julia Carroll's "Collecting Costume Jewelry 202.". There is also a patent drawing for this rare brooch (See last photo)...a number of calla lily designs were created by Gene Verrechio for Coro.
This calla lily flower has four pearlized thermoplastic lily petals with yellow glass stamens. The leaves are enameled in vivid spring green over shiny gold tone. This curled, circular design is one of the rarest to find of Verrechio's calla lily designs. This gorgeous flower pin measures 3" inches tall X 3" inches wide. There is a little bit of wear to the gold tone on two of the leaves and some wear to the coating on the petals (which you pretty much always find), but it is in otherwise excellent condition. Lush piece!
