Trifari 1940's Alfred Philippe Patented Rhinestone Drop Earrings

This Trifari signed pair of elegant drop earrings, patented in the 1940's by their famous head designer, Alfred Philippe, feature clear baguette, round chaton, marquis and square emerald cut rhinestones, all in rhodium plated silver tone settings. The top design near the screw backs are like a crown with the large square stone positioned like a diamond above it. Below this, is a triangular piece, set with three sizes of round chatons, joined by jump rings. Below dangle two columns of baguettes, 2 on one side and three on the other, and each tipped by a single marquis. All these sections are joined by jump rings, so they are articulated and swing freely.

Earrings measure 2 7/8" inches long as they are now in the photo, but if you add the extra links (which I can easily re-attach, if you desire), they will be 3.25" inches long. The screw heads are hallmarked "Des. Pat. Pending, Trifari". These elegant earrings come in their original Marshall Field & Co. department store earring box. This pair is in excellent condition. NOTE: One dull stone on the left earring, in the middle of the triangle piece (See photo #1), was replaced with a new, old stock rhinestone, so now they are perfect!

This gorgeous pair of Trifari drop earrings has an interesting provenance. It came from the estate of a beautiful Chicago area socialite who was a magazine, catalog and advertisement model back in the 1930's-1940's and who traveled the world.
