I look non-stop daily for Christmas tree pins year round, and I have rarely seen this one. It is done in matte, textured finish gold tone with six tiers of spiky evergreen boughs, dotted with ruby red, sapphire blue, emerald green and purple rhinestones for ornaments. A starburst-style star with a sapphire blue rhinestone is the topper and a diagonally scored trunk finishes off this neat holiday arbor.
This tree is featured in Jill Gallina's book, Christmas Pins Past and Present, Second Edition on page 49.
It stands 2 3/8" inches tall and is hallmarked "J.J." with the copyright symbol on a raised oval cartouche. It is in pristine, excellent condition.
Bit 'O History: Jonette Jewelry officially came to be at the end of World War II. The Lisker brothers combined the names of their parents, John and Etta, to form the name Jonette. Records show that "Jonette Jewelry Co." was established in 1944, incorporated in the state of Rhode Island.
Best known for their pins, Jonette Jewelry Co. used different metals and finishes (including brass, pewter, base metal, sterling silver, enameling and resin) and manufactured thousands of figural and whimsical novelty designs.
After 62 years as a family owned private company, Jonette Jewelry Co. ended production in September, 2006.
