This soft green pottery bowl was made by Mountainside Pottery between 1929 - 1940. Mountainside Pottery was started by John Kovacs, an immigrant from Hungary in 1929. They were located in Mountainside, New Jersey. Many of the cream colored clay pieces were hand thrown. Kovacs was affiliated with Rutgers University.
This 8 & 1/4 inch bowl is marked on the bottom with the MP for Mountainside Pottery and stamped Made in the USA.
The bowl is about 3 inches deep and has 3 rings on the outside. The thick soft green glaze has some lumps and dark marks in it that were done before the firing process.
This bowl is a bit misshaped but that often happens in hand thrown pieces.
A lovely vintage piece that would have many uses in the kitchen.
