There is no denying the marriage of the two parts that are combined to make up this one very rare Brides Basket. The ornate ormolu frame has been decorated on every visible side except for the nobs on the rim.The handles are collapsible, which is a unique feature giving you a choice for displaying. This American Brilliant Period ruby cut to clear glass bowl is curved in shape and cut in a deep hob star and wedge cut alternating pattern.Three scalloped feet hold a circular frame and the bowl up.Underneath the ormolu holder and the stamped numbers 6 and 13 as shown in photos. These are the only marks present unless there is one on the crystal that I have missed.I am sorry to say I do not know the origin of this 4 generation piece.I do know it has been lovingly cared for and is in very good condition with just a few spots of verdigris peeking through. This elegant piece measures 8 1/2" high with handles up.Circumference is 24" and diameter is 8". The depth of the bowl is 1 3/4" with the glass measuring 1" thick. A remarkable union of elements,a strong metal and fragile faceted cut glass.
