This is a beautiful circa 1900 hand made religious object of devotion.Shimmery peach colored satin with a shiny ivory silk threading in the initials H and M was made to be worn over the neck or shoulders.Whether the letters stand for Holy Mary or Holy Mother I am not sure.It is in rather fragile condition with pieces of a dark red wool peaking out from the back side.Back in the day different colors held homage to different religious orders ,red being the noted color for the religious order of Lazarists. The only proper way to get rid of these blessed pieces was to either burn or bury them.Luckily this one was cherished and left as a heirloom.I love the dainty little hand stitched satchel on the side and am not sure if it contains a relic of sort or not.The old satin ribbon joining the two panels is very worn and frail.
