The only thing more uncommon than the name, "Alva", is this sweet little hair ornament from the Victorian Era.The name Alva is Hebrew in origin which translates to,brightness.During the Victorian Era it was one of the top ten picked names for babies.Alva was the masculine spelling and Alvah was the feminine form. This sweet little barrette inscribed "ALVA" in a lovely old fashion script is stamped sterling and is in great condition.All it needs is a little polishing if desired.It measures 1 3/4" x 3/4". Hinge and prong closures are tight and holds securely.
