I have been researching and trying to find another decanter like this for about six months and it has been quite an ordeal.I did finally manage to find some amazing history on Imperial Formula Cosmetics. In 1934, while in Paris an American businessman J.E. Madding purchased the formulas of a skin care line that were originally developed by a Dr. Oscar Lazar.Dr. Oscar Lazar was apparently the appointed skin care specialist to the Czar and his family in the late 1800's and created these formulas in a apothecary shop in the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg..Returning to the U.S.,Madding set up shop in California with the formulas that were only numbered by Lazar. In keeping with the history of the formulas he decided to incorporate the Romanoff Imperial Double Eagle with the Imperial Crest in his packaging and advertising. In 1962 Madding sold this historic line to Lanvin.Today, Imperial Formula is still being made with Dr. Lazar's original formulas. This wonderful glass decanter is a combination of clear and frosted glass with the Imperial Double Eagle with Crest as the stopper with tail feathers and talons lining up on the bottle.Signed on the bottom with a raised molded mark that reads Imperial Formula in script and N19K,1938.To photograph this mark has proved unsuccessful but it is there.I have found out the scent it once contained was known as Regal Splendor and was discontinued long ago. Whether it was a limited edition or not,I am not sure to why it is so hard to find. The piece is in excellent condition without any chips, scratches or damage.I would love to know the designer for the bottle that Madding hired.Measures 6" tall and 8 3/4" round.
