SC # E10: The Special Delivery Stamp of 1916

Although this stamp was issued on Oct. 4th 1916, the earliest known posted mark is Nov. 4th 1916.This Special Delivery Stamp guaranteed that when posted on any letter or mailable material that it would be handled with secure and immediate delivery within the post office hours of 7 a.m. and midnight. This is a 10 cent dark blue, used stamp. I like how the post mark on this stamp resembles the wheels of a high wheel bicycle, with the handle bars of the printed stamp in just the right place. The 2009 Catalog value for this used stamp is $45.00.
