*1979: Jane Hutcheson Imperial Egg by Gorham

In the late 1970's, Jane Hutcheson along with her contract with Gorham released a line of Imperial Eggs. The interior of the eggs were displayed with lovely floral and fruit and jeweled designs just like her highly collectible open floral decorative pieces. All of these beautiful pieces were handmade and arranged and hand painted with enamel over gold plate.Shortly after the release of the Imperial Egg line, a flaw in production of the sealing of these eggs led to clouding and the production of the line ceased.Understandingly, not many of these pieces seem to remain out there. This wonderful Imperial egg holds a arrangement of bright red strawberries, emerald green leaves and three dainty white flowers studded with faux emerald and diamond stones covered with Murano glass and rested upon a silver tone metal pedestal.Although a bit cloudy it still remains quite beautiful.Measures 5 1/2" high and 9" in circumference.Enjoy!
