Fiery Amber Glass & Sterling Rosary – Hallmarked with Great Patina

The handsome sterling crucifix and scapular center medal possess a very special beauty. At first glance they appear somewhat simple, but the castings are beautifully detailed and further enhanced by the rich, dark patina. The oval center has Jesus and His Sacred Heart on the front with a lovely Gothic nimbus and radiant Heart. I find the expression on His face powerfully evocative; likewise the gentleness of His slender hands.

You rarely see crucifixes with this unique shape. Though the arms are not equal sized like a traditional cross pattée or iron cross, there are versions with straight parallel lines at the center and a flare at the very end of the arms. This crucifix reminds me of such a cross, and it is very striking. There are beautiful triangular ornaments at each point, with a similar design behind Jesus’ head. The molded corpus has terrific details and is securely soldered to the cross.

This precious Catholic rosary would make an exquisite gift for anyone who can appreciate its fine styling and excellent condition. They are in excellent vintage condition with only minor fleabites consistent with age. Definitely a special devotional!
