I am delighted to offer this quality French family heirloom that will delight any lover of large, brightly colored religious jewelry. This sparkling cross likely dates to the transitional period when the classic elegance of the Edwardians and their fondness for amber gave way to the geometrics of Art Deco.
The six gorgeous burnt orange glass stones are beautifully faceted and prong-set into individual mountings. These are then affixed to an underlying cross. This stunningly simple design makes it all about the stones, which are firmly set and in near perfect condition with no scratches or scuffs. Depending on your monitor, the color may look more red than burnt orange.
The setting is made of gilded brass, which was very popular at the time. The marks on the back appear to be from manufacture, and there is light patina throughout.
This rare and wonderful piece is ready to become one of your heirlooms and surely one of your favorite pieces of devotional jewelry. And if you’re looking for a gift that will shock, awe and delight, consider this unusual beauty. Comes boxed and ready for gift-giving.
