Duhme & Co. Cincinnati, Ohio Coin Silver Napkin Ring
Napkin rings offer an abundance of choices for collectors. They are small, easy to display and useful. They can be collected by maker, style or monogram or just because you like it!
This fine heavy silver napkin ring features a hand engraved pattern of graceful leaves. The center cartouche has a monogram that appears to be "JT". I am not quite sure of the first letter. The raised border is an attractive accent to this ring.
The ring is marked Duhme & Co., 11. Duhme was started in Cincinnati, Ohio sometime in the 1840's by Herman Duhme. This particular mark was probably used from the late 1850's through the early 1870's. The company ceased operations in 1910.
There is no silver content mark. The company was well-known for coin silver, so I suspect this ring is coin although it could be sterling. I do guarantee that it is solid silver, not plate.
For your collection or for your table, this is a beauty! The large size is perfect for a large and elegant dinner napkin.
CONDITION: Vintage Excellent! There are some long scratches on the inside.
