Wonderful Large Neapolitan Glass-Eyed Creche Figure with Original Clothes!
This large, glass-eyed 18.5" Creche figure has all of its original clothing intact.Made of carved wood, her head is in an elaborate carved bun with long tendrils cascading down the side of the neck. On its original armature body, the lower feet and lower hands are without any damage and are beautifully carved and decorated.

What is really amazing to me, besides its unusual large size, is the original silk clothing which is in excellent condition and includes all of its metallic trim and even its Dresden stars on the cape.
As with most Creche figures of this period, there is some paint wear and gesso loss here and there. She has a painted gesso covered wooden head, arms, and legs, and her wire armature body is molded with hemp stuffing.
A beautiful soulful expression.
