Winterhalter and Hofmeier 9-hammer dual chime mantel clock, c1900

Circa 1900, Beautiful heavily carved oak case in excellent condition. Movement is an unusual and quite rare 9-hammer quarter hour strike. Winterhalder & Hofmeier were considered the finest clockmakers in the Victorian era. They were based in several towns in Germany's Black Forest region. The company was established in 1810. They produced various types of clocks that were of very high quality in their factories in Friedenweiler, Neustadt and Schwarzenbach. This one from Neustadt, Baden area. The back of the movement is stamped "Patented in all countries; made in Wurttemburg; 1403". Plays Westminster chime on the quarter hour and strikes the hour on a single rod on the hour.

Dimensions: 18-1/2" h x 8-1/4" d x 13" w

We are a full service clock shop and do all our restorations in house. All movements have been professionally restored in-house; pivots polished & bushings as necessary. We provide instruction with the shipping of the clock for set up and care.
