Penny Pendlebury used meticulous methods and experimentation to create her version of the all cloth Alabama baby doll. Penny Pendlebury became a member of the Original doll artist council of America in 1981. This wonderful creation is her version of the all cloth Alabama baby doll. The doll is 16 ½ inches tall. Penny Pendlebury created this doll in 1987 it is marked on the lower cloth body #1 vau106462 copr. Mar 2 1987 Penny Pendlebury ODACA 1987 Constructed in the manner of the 1905 Alabama Baby Escondido Cal. 92026. She also wrote a highly desired book on how to create your own Alabama Baby out of all cloth using a molded head that she sold. This was one of the earliest attempts by a doll artist to use the exact same techniques to recreate their own version of an this all cloth doll, the head is not paper mache but is cloth molded over a molded head that Penny Pendlebury created, the body is also all cloth. The doll is in excellent condition with all the original clothing, all the paint is original with a little flaking on the hair. This is a wonderful artist doll.
