Early Oil Painted Presbyterian Doll

. Early Presbyterian Doll in Pink. She is a wonderful early Presbyterian doll from the around 1900's. The doll is all cloth and 16 inches tall. The head is oil painted but the arms on this doll are not painted. The head has the center gusset piece that gives this doll the head shape. This doll does not have the gusset on the bottom. The lower legs are the same fabric as the upper legs with black stocking sewn over the legs. The shape of the legs is the L shape and the body shape and arms do also match pictures in the book on these dolls. I have the book The Doll the Church Built; by Debra Hoover, and went through the book to compare this dolls structure to the dolls in the book and everything including the facial paint looks accurate. The book describes the various differences in the dolls and does state not all dolls had black sateen lower legs or the gusset on the bottom. She is dressed in a pink check dress. This is a wonderful early doll.
