Vintage 1914 Western Mountain Scene Carved Period Frame

This is a great impressionistic western mountain scene oil on canvas painting with a period heavy carved walnut frame. We have had this item in our midst for about four years but the painting you are viewing here is far from the condition in which we found it and in fact we really purchased it for the frame with the painting having several large tears both horizontally and vertically. The frame was covered in the ugliest heavy gold paint and we knew it had to be something special because it was so unusually heavy for its size. We sent the painting out to a professional to have it relined and we began the tedious process of stripping the gold paint off of the frame and much to our enjoyment we discovered this beautiful period 1910-1915 carved hardwood (walnut) frame. Prior to sending the painting for relining we did notice written on the backside were words and a date of 1914. As the words did not mean anything, we did not photograph them because quite frankly we did not know how this would work out. Well as you can see, the painting turned out pretty good and the frame is a beauty. Measurements are 17.25 by 24.5 inches art sight size, 22.25 by 29.5 inches framed. The artwork is solid with a few specs of missing paint here and there but nothing really noticeable. The frame is close to where it should be but deep within the carved crevices, there are still specs of old paint that did not come completely out. These will require someone with a lot of time to remove but personally we don't feel it necessary. The frame and artwork look great as they are.
