We obtained this early Antique oil on canvas landscape painting in completely original untouched condition while on a trip through North Carolina a while back. It came out of a home of a gentleman who was 90 plus years old. It is signed lower left Clark but there are many fine past artists with this name and we can't say for sure who this particular one is. The Frame is original to the piece and in great shape. It has all of its gold gilt intact except for a 2 inch piece on the upper right corner and a small chip in both the left and right bottom corner edges. The painting is of a primitive mountainous landscape scene with a lake, boaters in the distance, trees and a shoreline. It is heavily cracked and there is flaking paint loss to the left portion of the work, but we feel this early 19th century piece (maybe older) is a real find and with the proper restoration would be spectacular. Measurements are 11.75 by 17.75 inches sight, 17.50 by 23.50 inches overall, 12 by 18 inch rabbet size.
