Finely Carved Walnut Renaissance Revival Slipper Pocket

This is a very fancy carved Renaissance Revival walnut slipper pocket attributed to John Jelliff, ca 1870. It is 18" high and 10" wide. The top is decorated with very fine open scroll carving, while the moveable section in the middle has incised carving and a very nicely carved ladies" head. The carving at the bottom of piece includes wonderful leaf and scroll carving on either side of a finely carved lion head. The piece is in original and near perfect condition.
