1860's American Rococo Rosewood Carved Fire Screen ~ Carved Roses and Birds ~ Very Nice LARGE Size ~ Wonderful Old Needlepoint ~ Magnificent Piece of Fine Art ~ Collector Piece ~ Master Artistry

This is a magnificent large rosewood firescreen with original needlepoint tapestry. It is 56" tall, and 36" wide. The tapestry is 33 1/2" tall and 28 3/4" wide. It is original, depicting a romantic scene, with wonderful tones of blue, red green, and tan, and is in near perfect condition with only one small tear found in the backing material. The frame is supported on four nicely carved and moulded serpentine shaped legs with scroll carved feet. The bottom of the frame is nicely shaped, carved, and moulded, with very nice acanthus carving in the center. Both sides are serpentine, nicely carved and moulded with wonderful scroll and floral carving in the center. The top of the frame is simply magnificent! It is beautifully carved with deep c scrolls centered with a deeply carved cabuchon surrounded with shell carving and more c scrolls, and topped with great leaf and scroll carving. The most outstanding feature of the frame is the two wonderfully carved birds in flight on either side of the top. We would be happy to answer any questions or provide more photos if necessary.
