1860's American Rococo Rosewood Victorian center table with a white marble top (possibly a later replacement) . Very similar tables are shown in "American Furniture of the 19th Century" by Eileen and Richard Dubrow. We believe this table was probably made by one of the top carvers of the 1860's (Alexander Roux, Meeks, Belter, Galusha, Roux, or Henkels). The roses carved on this table are exactly like the carved roses on a piece of Meeks furniture we own. It has a very graceful shape with a carved skirt that features a cluster of flowers and fruit with foliage on all four sides. There is a similar fruit carving at the top of each of the graceful legs. Four open carved stretchers support a gorgeous central carved fruit finial. It sits on the original castors. The center table is the focal point of the Victorian living room. It is in wonderful refinished condition! Circa: 1865 Dimensions: 31"H x 32"W x 28"D Finish: Excellent with deep rich patina. The vibrant stunning grain of the rosewood is on full display.
