VERY RARE Ca. 1870's American Neo-Grec Rosewood Renaissance Revival Parlor Cabinet w/ Hand painted Porcelain Plaque. This is truly the BEST OF THE BEST - a collectors dream piece. Appears to be ALL ORIGINAL including the finish. The ROSEWOOD is unbelievable on this piece - SOLID ROSEWOOD - not veneered. This piece is finished BEAUTIFULLY ALL THE WAY AROUND the cabinet. The back is completely finished. The inside of the cabinet appears to have been for sheet music or music books. The piece appears to be made to not only store music but to be used by the singer as a podium of sorts (we believe this is the reason the back is so beautiful and it is the perfect height for this). There is a partial signature on the bottom of the drawer with the lion face handle that is mostly illegible except the letters "TREN.." to the right of the maker's name. Therefore, we believe this piece was probably made in Trenton, NJ. The construction of this piece is wonderful with 1/2 in dowels evident at the bottom of the inside of the cabinet. Completely finished beautifully on the inside of the cabinet and the inside of the drawer. The hoofed feet on this piece are hand carved as well as are all of the other moldings on this cabinet. Measures 17" deep, 19 1/2" wide by 42 5/8" tall (except the crest - with the crest it is 46 3/4" tall). The outstanding hand painted porcelain plaque with 3 cherubs playing music is 9 1/4" by 10 1/4" and is in the KPM style of painting. We have not removed the plaque to see if there are any markings on the back of the plaque. This item can be shipped by a blanket wrap company to most mainland USA locations for around 300.00. The other items in the last picture are not included in this sale.
