A fine three-mold blown quart size decanter in the McKearin pattern GIII-26 with its original stopper, and folded rim. This was probably produced by Boston Sandwich Glass Company circa 1820-1835. The decanter stands 9.75" tall. This particular pattern is said to be rare, we have seen three examples similar to this over the years. It comes with a couple of minor issues, not surprising considering its age and type of glass. The stopper has a large piece of glass missing on one side ( not visible when inserted for display), and there is an internal hairline fracture on one side that extends from near the bottom through the beginning of the base design, approx. 1/4 inch in length (see photo). The fracture can not be felt by touch and does not affect the display of the piece because of the design it runs through it is hard to detect, this type of defect could have occurred during the making (heating & cooling process) but we are unsure and have noted it as such.
