This is a rare piece manufactured by Rosenthal, Selb-Bavaria, for the perfumer, J.F. Schwarzlose Sohne, in Berlin. It dates from the very early 1920s. The German company J.F. Schwarzlose & Sohne was founded in 1856 and closed in 1976. Rosa Centifolia was one of their best sellers. However, this product was never sold in the U.S.A. and was purchased in Berlin by the grandmother of the previous owner when she was a young girl on holiday with her family in Germany.
The porcelain jar was produced by Rosenthal. Both the screw top lid and the jar are both a matched pair and hand numbered '63' on the bottom of the jar and inside the lid. The lid screws on to the base and fits tightly.
It measures approximately 2" tall and 3 3/8" across the top. It is in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or crazing.
