Edme Samson Porcelain Figurines 19th Century in Meissen Manner
The set features a woman who appears about to curtsey, and a gentleman with a posey in his hand and sword at his side. The ruffles on their clothing, the painted florals, the bows on her skirt are just a wonderful example of Samson's attention to the smallest details. Their is some wear to the banded gilding, the gentleman's breeches knee, and unfortunately he also has a repaired area at the bend of his arm. This could be easily repaired by a professional who works with antiques. Unfortunately, I no longer have anyone in my area who does this work as she recently retired. However, I have priced this set to reflect the lack of perfection. Truly, when they are displayed it is not noticeable unless you are looking for it--the camera magnifies everything. They stand 6" tall, she is 3" at her widest, he is 2.5" wide. The bases are 1 7/8th inches in diameter. Both are hallmarked with the gold anchor that he so often used. You will enjoy the beauty of these wonderful antique figurines as I have for so very many years,
