From our Mother Ocean Collection, we offer you a pair of blue and white earrings. Here we find a carved shell in a white star shape. Below, a large bead cap cradles the round cultured freshwater color-enhanced blue pearl, which is topped by a corrugated silver pear. Above the star is a round sodalite sphere flanked on top and bottom by small round silver spheres. The earrings hang just over 2 inches below the sterling earwires. As with all of our earrings, these come in ziplock bags to keep tarnish away and have clear soft rubber earnuts to keep them securely in place.
Mother of Pearl brings the soft energies of Lady Moon into your life... and the colors of these hand-carved shells reflect the color of the moon. The star shape has figured prominently in the occult* world for millennia. Here one easily sees the outstretched arms of DaVinci's Cosmic human, an elemental pattern of perfection to the Ancients and Mystics - from Pythagoras to today's "Star Children."
The star is symbolic of the integration of the Five Elements of which we are all comprised: Air/Mind, Imagination, Fire/Will, Passion, Water/Emotions, the Psi Senses, Earth/the Body and the world... and the top point is Spirit, to which we all aspire. The five-pointed star, the Pentacle, has been used for thousands of years, even in Egypt (where the star hieroglyph means "magic")... a guidepost for metaphysicians to decipher and embody as their Great Work.
Identical to lapis but for one chemical difference, sodalite has been used for millenia as having very similar properties to lapis lazuli. Where lapis has flecks of golden pyrite, sodalite contains white silicate, often giving the stone the appearance of a deep blue dusk sky streaked with wispy clouds.
Like lapis, sodalite works on one's Third Eye, allowing one to look inward without apprehension or anxiety. Sodalite works at very subtle levels, and assists in helping one fluidly integrate life lessons. A lovely gift of this stone is the peace which comes from working with it. Rather than blame and self-recrimination, one is more likely to find gifts of self-forgiveness and a greater appreciation for one's self by helping to lessen the guilt trips with which we often punish ourselves after making mistakes. In addition, we are also often more able to deal with others in a similar manner - not needing games, but being less afraid to be honest, even humanly vulnerable and humble.
As sodalite colors range from pale blues with dark streaks to dark blue with light calcite streaks, it is associated with three different chakras: The throat chakra (lighter blues), the Third Eye (pineal gland - the indigo blues), and the Crown chakra - the white patternings. Therefore, this lovely stone can assist, for instance, in aiding you when asking for the universe or Deity to reveal hidden clues and buried wisdom which will help you ascertain whether or not you are working in the best manner for your Soul's evolution, growing enough from the lessons you're learning (and re-learning!) - by bringing "down" (or out!) your connection to the Divine (Crown Chakra).
Sodalite can be a catalyst for your being able to see the world around you with a clear insight-light that penetrates all facades, games (all of which are often just masks we and others wear in our fear of showing vulnerability); its connection to the throat chakra manifests in assistance with communication, peaceful resolution of and healing from any misunderstanding.
*(Occult [from the Latin word for eye], simply means "hidden" or that which is not generally known by the public, but is studied by those who seek the Mysteries.)
