This is a simple but lovely pair of earrings, with large, beautiful Andean (Peruvian) blue opal globes, nestled in silver filigree bead caps; they are flanked by large Bali silver corrugated teardrop beads. Hanging from the beads are amazing silver-plated winged Goddesses, or Fairy Goddesses, or Fairies, or Angels, whichever you interpret these gorgeous charms to be. The earrings hang just a shade over two inches from the bottom of the sterling earwire, and the opals are a generous 10 mm!
As with all of our earrings, these come in ziplock bags to keep tarnish away and have clear soft rubber earnuts to keep them securely in place.
Blue Peruvian (Andean) Opal is mystically known as a stone of courage, creativity, and ingenuity, and is a Birthstone for Libra, where Venus cultivates relationships.
Gemstone lore cites opal as a great resource to work with in order to improve self-esteem and self-love, which are necessary for any healthy relationship. We don't want to go into relationships seeking to become whole - that leads into co-dependency. While we are always growing from our interactions with others, we do so as a whole person for a healthy relationship. The coming together of two whole catalyzes a relationship that is symbiotic, not parasitical - one in which power is shared, not wielded passive-aggressively. Blue opals are wonderful tools to aid anyone seeking to outgrow passive-aggressive behavior patterns and replace them with assertion.
Opal is an aid to creativity and communication of all types. Its color links it with the throat chakra, aiding communication, writing, meditation and trance work which is grounded enough to turn the visions into art of any type.
Rather than the watery opals of Australia, the Peruvian blues are earthy and grounding, in the way that turquoise is. Work with this stone when you have meetings with people, need to facilitate a gathering, and definitely any interaction you're nervous about - it will ease your fears and smooth the path of your work. All in all, Peruvian blues are wonderful stones!
Some of the most ancient depictions of the Divine Feminine and Goddess showed her with upraised arms, as if she were "Drawing Down the Moon." With her arms upraised, Priestesses of the Goddess reached out to call Her into them. Examine pictures of archaeological artifacts from Old Europe with Egypt, and ancient lands, you will find many similarities. Often the most ancient forms came to be called bird Goddesses, as animals figure prominently the farther back one goes.
One thing is certain about all - each depicts woman reaching up to draw down the ineffable, an earthly vessel for transcendence, a carrier of Spirit who can also give Spirit back when she gives birth! What a beautiful cycle!
The wings of Fairy show her to be exalted - of this world yet of the in-between times of dusk and dawn; she can be radiant, lifted up and she can bring the gifts of Spirit back into the world. Definitely, whether grounded or in flight, the ecstasy of all the women with arms upraised, symbolic as well of invisible wings is incredibly powerful!
The Sidhe (the Celtic word for the Great Shining Ones who came to be known as fairies to us in the modern world) are akin to the Nature Devas of the East in many ways. Shimmering Silver is the Lady's color. Wearing these, you will better be able to manifest the Goddess to all whom you meet, as you draw Her up from inside you with honor, to blend with the encompassing beauty which pours into your Crown chakra from above!
