This set is not for sale. It was designed as a special commission for an auction to benefit the Grace of the Goddess fund at the 2010 Merry Meet, the national annual meeting for the Covenant of the Goddess. Please do not bid on this set as it will not be sold. We list this here to show you an example of the kind of custom work that we do. WittchDoc Creations at RubyLane presents you with a Triple Goddess Amber, Jet and Moonstone Necklace and Earring set.
The focal point for this creation is a silver Primordial Goddess figurine, modeled after one discovered in the area of Neolithic Egypt. Her arms upraised, in praise or ecstasy, She is open to the Magick of the Earth and the stars of our most ancient ancestors. She is cradled by crescent Moons a wide palette of Ambers: Honey, Cognac, with Cherry Amber on either side of Her, large Rainbow Moonstones, and varying shapes of verifiable lignite Jet, both modern and vintage Witches' jewels. The back of the necklace is very comfortable where the larger stones lie, like a silky torc, and the clasp above the right breast is a sterling blend of lunar and solar leaf and flower. All of the Amber in front is natural Baltic and Tibetan, with some pressed amber in the back for its silky smooth shapes. The clasp is Karen Hill Tribe silver, with is approximately 97 to 98% pure silver.
The earrings, including clear Baltic Lemon Amber are delicate and touch the necklace. The Cherry Amber spheres used in the front is from Tibetan monks. Silver cones vertically cradle Rainbow Moonstones, one on each breast, for Balance with the Pillars of a Tree while Drawing Down or during Cones of Power; the Bali silver cones are vertical for that reason. Moonstone are position also to create the downward triangle of the Divine Feminine. The silver throughout the necklace is a combination of types, sterling or sterling plated, with Bali and Tibetan silver, wearable by the most metal-sensitive skin. Stones are positioned as they are also for Heart and Solar Plexus Chakras, while the earrings are light at the Throat Chakra.
Many modern Witches who work with the Great Goddess and Old Gods often wear amber, which is frequently paired with jet. Interestingly, for centuries, jet was called "Witches' Amber." Its color strengthens the Root chakra, the center of physical stability and mundane security, grounding the Sun energy of the Amber with which it is usually paired. Both are organic in nature, preserved trees, and their colors of golden and black hold Mysteries, as well as being the colors associated with Samhain, or Hallows Eve.
The set has been lying on a huge crystal cluster, but not specifically consecrated by the Elements, save in our minds as we talked through the designs etc., that the recipient may use her own Ritual to make this Goddess-loved creation her own.
We envisioned and brought this Triple Goddess set to fruition during a Personal Full Moon (to our Moons) working, with our conjunct Venuses in Pisces and exactly conjunct Mercuries blended incredibly during the planning and birth of this set. May you share in the Magick of this creation, this blend of Witches' Gems, Amber and Jet, with three-fold Rainbow Moonstones, and may its Magick inspire, augment and protect you on your own journeys Between the Worlds! Created with a true love of the glorious gemstones of Mother Earth!
Amber has been used in jewelry for millenia, as it is exceedingly light, soft and easy to carve. The petrified resin of ancient conifers, amber is often shown in museums holding the enclosed bodies of insects which had crawled up the trees and become encased in the sticky resin. You can examine a modern version of amber by burning copal, the incense used in churches throughout South America - or by visiting a forest and breaking off a chunk of hardened pine resin which, by the way, makes an incredible incense to burn on charcoal!
Notably, amber has been so highly prized that one of its names is "Freya's Gold," or "Freya's Tears," from the amber necklace Brisingamen. A Greek myth has amber's source be the tears of the sun nymphs, the Heliads, when their brother Phaeton died. Phaeton was a son of Helios, Pre-Hellenic Greek Sun God, preceding Apollo, and while driving the chariot of his father, he lost control and "was struck down by a thunderbolt from Zeus" [Webster's].
Amber's original name is "Electrum" from the Latin term for the property of electric charges, called such because rubbing amber gives off a charge which will attract bits of paper, raise hair on the arms, and move ash. Try it sometime... true amber will attract tiny pieces of ash or paper. It is also the source of the word "Elektron" or "Elektor" - "beaming sun) [Websters]. Amber comes in a variety of colors and types - butter amber, honey amber, cognac amber, cherry amber, brown amber and even close to black amber. Sometimes it is melted down and reformed into beads of differing types, but it is still Amber. Take care, 'though, not to buy amber with insects in it, for that is truly not only re-formed but fraudulent. Such ambers are museum pieces - not sold on the internet!
Amber is the stone of the Sun or Solar Plexus chakra, strengthening one's will and life force. Metaphysically, amber is protective against negative thoughtforms, and was used in ancient times to ward off negative or ill-meant magic.
Many modern Witches who work with the Great Goddess and Old Gods often wear amber, which is frequently paired with jet. Interestingly, for centuries, jet was called "Witches' Amber." Both are organic in nature, preserved trees, and their colors of golden and black hold Mysteries, as well as being the colors associated with Samhain, or Hallows Eve.
As True jet is actually highly polished lignite coal, and, like amber, it becomes electrically charged if rubbed, and will attract small pieces of ash or paper. Many people try to pass off black glass as jet, but the difference between constructed stones and natural is that the latter become warm after being held in one's hand for a bit; true amber and jet will retain the body's warmth, whereas plastic, glass, etc. will not. Jet became popular in Victorian England after the death of Prince Albert, and was used in what was called "mourning jewelry."
Its color strengthens the Root chakra, the center of physical stability and mundane security, grounding the Sun energy of the Amber with which it is usually paired. There are other mysteries connected with Jet which I cannot fully convey, but some considerations: the Goddess in her Elder face and form; the Horned God, the Stag of the Wood who watches over all life in the forest, and cradles the full Moon in his rack; He who is connected as well with the Crone at Samhain (the common term is Hallowe'en).
Many Wiccan High Priestesses wear the two resins together, also for a reason steeped in the Mysteries of the Craft, deliberately called Mysteries, as the Craft is a Mystery Religion, and works with transcendental experiences which must be undergone firsthand, and really cannot be simplified by common speech.
Moonstone, stone of nurturing and the magickal energies connected with the moon, shows its power with often rainbow chatoyancy (the cat-eye effect). Mystical Moonstone has always been associated with the psychic and Spiritual realms, being a stone held in greatest esteem throughout the world. Lovely moonstone, in all its colors, has a visibly soft luster. One finds full moon white, silvers, greys that come close to the color of black pearls, a somewhat shimmery brown, and peach.
It facilitates psychic receptivity, brings protection, especially to women, and encourages the balance of the Sacred Feminine within men. Lovely, mystical moonstone is connected with both Moon and Sky (the blue-flash); the stone helps one to be emotionally and psychically open, yet balanced. Moonstones are also often included in protection bags, a collection of stones for specific purposes. Because the Moon moves so quickly, close to 13 degrees a day, one of its little known strengths is that it protects you while you are in motion. Therefore, it's a wonderful addition to mojo bags one keeps in a car or purse.
It is connected with the Navel chakra (passions and emotional nurturing which comes from one's healed Will) as well as the Crown chakra due to the rainbow element, opening one to universal energies which are drawn down and can be emitted from you in nurturing ways, as you Will. Grey moonstone has a silky Otherworld luster, and likewise activates the Crown chakra. Remember that all moonstones open you psychically, so use with them a grounding stone. This will assist, as well, your use of it as a healing stone, especially for a women's reproductive system.
When you need soothing from the stresses of the modern world, pull out a moonstone from your mojo bag (medicine pouch, amulet bag) and stroke it. If your moonstones are "feeling" cloudier than usual, set them in the center of a crystal cluster for three days. By then, the Moon will have moved from one sign of the Zodiac to another. Also, clear running water is a powerful means by which one can clear and re-energize stones, but make sure you let the water splash on it. Dry it softly and you can then expose it to the rays of the Moon for a night or three.
May the Goddess bring you deeper into the Wisdom of Her unconditional love as you wear these amulets of many of the Witches who walk Her Path.
